The goal of the COSEA app is to create a flexible and wide-spectrum toolkit, that allows people to monitor marine environments, developments and impacts, and record observations on location directly via Smartphones and mobile devices. Secondly, the app toolkit provides an interactive platform, which enables community building and communication.
Co-Use of the COSEA Toolkit
There are countless iniatives, regional groups, Citizen Science projects, NGOs and other actors working on marine conservation and protection. Most of these actors do not have a large funding to develop, run, maintain and extend an interactive Citizen Science and Public Engagement toolkit on their own.
A core goal of the COSEA collaborative project is to allow such actors to co-use the app in their locality. In the course of the project, we will develop advanced tools and technologies to make this goal a reality.
Planned features for collaborations
To fulfil this ambitious goal of creating a scaleable platform, that can be utilized by stakeholder across Europe's coasts and beyond, COSEA will be extended with a range of features, that enable self-sustained data access, data and community management and communication.
